Severe thunderstorm warning for Burnett
BURNETT residents are urged to stay alert as severe thunderstorm warnings were released for the area this morning.
The Bureau of Meteorology reported a line of storms were moving through southeast Queensland, and damaging winds were possible.
Severe thunderstorms were likely to produce damaging gusts over the warning area over the next several hours on Thursday November 22.
Locations which may be affected include Kingaroy, Cherbourg, Gayndah, Eidsvold, Toowoomba, Jimboomba, the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Maroochydore, Caboolture, Coolangatta, Ipswich, Mount Tamborine and Redcliffe.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises people should move their cars under cover, or away from trees and secure any loose outdoor items.
People are also advised to seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under any trees.
Residents should avoid using a telephone during a thunderstorm and be aware of any fallen trees and powerlines.
