Six-year-old boy killed after being swept into the ocean

A SIX-year-old boy has died after he was swept into the ocean in northern New South Wales this afternoon.

He was walking with his father and brother along South Ballina Beach when he was swept away at around 1:00pm.

He was airlifted to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition where he later died.
