THE Socceroos got back to winning ways in Canberra with an impressive 3-0 win over Kyrgyzstan at Gio Stadium.

Just under 20,000 turned up in the capital and witnessed Aaron Mooy put on a clinical performance to help the home team get its World Cup qualifying campaign back on track.

After a disappointing performance in Jordan last month the Socceroos never looked in trouble against the hard-working visitors.

A 40th-minute penalty from skipper Mile Jedinak and second-half goals from Tim Cahill and an ldar Amirov own goal helped the home team to three points to cement second place in the group, one point behind leaders Jordan.

The home fans were treated to a top-class performance from Mooy in midfield, who was at the heart of all the Socceroos' best moves.

They also had plenty to cheer when home-grown Tom Rogic was introduced as a substitute for the final 30 minutes and showed plenty of good touches.

The only problems for coach Ange Postecoglou ahead of Tuesday's clash in Bangladesh are injuries to attackers Tomi Juric and Nathan Burns.

There was a positive in defence where Bradford City's James Meredith looked strong on debut at left-back.

Cahill hit the post and Mark Milligan missed another glorious chance before Jedinak scored from the spot after Burns was fouled.

After the break Cahill nabbed his 42nd international goal following Mooy's inch-perfect pass and Mooy's corner was headed into his own net by Amirov to give the scoreline a much truer reflection.
