Socceroos hit back with 3-0 win against Canada
THE Socceroos have come out swinging after the sacking of coach Holger Osieck, downing Canada 3-0 in London this morning.
The win against the 106th-ranked side is far from earth-shattering but will come as a welcome relief to embattled players after inglorious 6-0 defeats by Brazil and France.
Under caretaker coach Aurelio Vidmar, the players showed encouraging signs. Josh Kennedy opened the scoring in less than 30 seconds, with Dario Vidosic and Mathew Leckie scoring in the second half.
Australia will name a new head coach in the coming weeks after Osieck was sacked immediately after the disastrous loss to France in Paris on Friday.
