Solar farm for South Burnett?
ENERGY companies have shown an interest in building solar farms in the South Burnett.
South Burnett Regional Council mayor Keith Campbell said there had been a level of interest displayed.
"They haven't developed or advanced at this point in time, other then to say there has been a level of interest displayed by a couple of projects," Cr Campbell said.
"There will be a wait and see to establish whether or not it advances."
Cr Campbell said green energy was a very big ticket at the moment.
"It's more than simply someone coming into to make and enquiry, need to establish a suitable location, feed into the network systems lots of things need to be considered and established before the proponent would want to advance the situation," he said.
AGL's Coopers Gap wind farm project is in the planning approval process with the Environmental Impact Statement open to the public to read until Monday, November 7 at 5pm.
Formal submissions can be emailed to coopersgap@ coordinatorgeneral. qld.gov.au or sent via post to Coordinated Project Delivery Division, Office of the Coordinator General, PO Box 15517, City East, QLD 4002.
The proposed project is 50km west of Kingaroy and feature up to 115 wind turbines with a maximum capacity of 460MW.
It would be finished by 2020 and include 350 short term construction jobs and 20 operation jobs.
