Son of Princess Mary rescued by Gold Coast lifeguard
THE 10-year-old son of Australian born Princess Mary and heir to the crown of Denmark has been pulled from potentially deadly surf at a Gold Coast beach.
7 News reports Prince Christian was collected by lifeguard Nick Malcolm at Mermaid Beach.
The lifeguard had no idea who the young boy was when he paddled out to save his life.
His supervisor Stuart Keay told 7 News:
"We got to him before it got too serious, but he wouldn't have come back in."
The lifeguard received a personal thanks from Prince Christian's father, Denmark's Crown Prince Frederick.
