South Burnett business opens doors to bring new life to town
PROSTON business owners Nicholas and Anita Blanch will be opening the doors to their newest venture to assist with the town's revitalisation.
The grand opening of the NB Department Store will be held on Thursday, September 26.
Mr and Mrs Blanch said the business would create a unique attraction to the country town and would aim to redefine what a department store was.
This comes after their 'Myers in the bush' store NB Inspirations closed down earlier this month.
"Although this business shares a name and location similar to the business that existed in the space previously, it is a very different establishment," they said.
The couple are very committed to the South Burnett and Proston and look forward to the opportunity to further contribute to the town.
"It has been imperative that we find a way to achieve our overall goal of assisting with Proston's revitalisation, but in a sustainable way from a business standpoint," they said.
"Despite many revisions, adaptations and efforts over the past nine years, we were unable to craft NB Inspirations into a truly sustainable operation."
The new business, which will join Mr and Mrs Blanch's other business, The Jacaranda Tearooms on Proston's Blake St, will consist of four departments.
This will include The Anita Lauren Boutique, Play Grow & Learn: Kids and Men's Trade, Surf, City & Country.
"The fourth is a mystery, to be revealed on opening day," they said.
The NB Department Store will have a special display aimed at attracting visitors from across the region and beyond, which will be continually added to.
The business's mission statement says they will aim to be "the most social-media friendly business".
"We are providing new splashes of information daily on our Facebook page, which has been really successful in creating a positive, exciting vibe, which has been a very enjoyable experience for our loyal customers from Proston and across the region," they said.
The business owners hope to encourage further entrepreneurs to invest in the country town.
"We truly believe that this is the year that Proston can begin to make massive steps towards its reinvention to ensure its future, with many main street shops now owned by a local community group, and renovations taking place up the street, ready to invite further entrepreneurs," they said.
NB Department Store will hold its grand opening on Thursday, September 26 at 9am at 30 Blake St, Proston.
