South Burnett community calls for action on crime rates
COMMUNITY members have called for an unsupervised youth curfew in the South Burnett to counter crime rates.
The petition on change.org calls for local and state governments to take control of crime in the local area.
"The South Burnett community has had enough of the growing crime rate in their area,” the petition said.
The petition suggests assisting local police to bring crime down through harsher penalties for offenders and considering a curfew for unsupervised youth.
"The local police are doing what they can but there appears to be a weak link further down the line, with these crime sprees coming in waves,” it said.
It stated the recent amount of stolen vehicles and homes being broken into were of a particular concern to the community.
