South Burnett council program a finalist for excellence

THE South Burnett Regional Council were named finalists in the recent LGMA Queensland Awards for Excellence.

The council were finalists for the Local Government Managers Australia Excellence in Collaboration Award, which was presented in Brisbane on Thursday, May 30.

Mayor Keith Campbell said the award recognised the council's collaboration with regional event committees and Tilma Group through the Events Pilot Program.

The intensive 10 month program, which required event committees to contribute financially to the program and attend a series of monthly webinars and digital workshops throughout 2018.

"It contributed to great results being achieved by the events involved in the program and the collaboration between events across the region,” Cr Campbell said.

LGMA judges look for genuine and effective collaboration with partners, resulting in better outcomes for councils and their communities.

The certificate was officially awarded the certificate during the awards ceremony and was presented during the council's general meeting on June 12.

The certificate will be kept on display in the South Burnett Regional Council's Kingaroy office.
