South Burnett leads Men's Pennant

THE South Burnett Men's Pennant team finished atop the Glasshouse Mountains Zone table following a comprehensive eight points to three win over visitors Pine Rivers on Sunday.

Kingaroy Golf Club hosted the final round of the competition, and the home team proved their credentials as Pennant favourites with a dominant performance on their home greens.

Of the 11-strong South Burnett contingent, four drew with their Pine Rivers counterparts and only one player lost.

J. Walden (2/1), H. Yesberg (5/4), C. Bodey (2/1), G. Green (5/4) and R. Needham (6/5) all won their respective ties to secure top spot for the hosts and send them into the finals full of confidence.

In the other match-up at Kingaroy, Beerwah prevailed over North Lakes by the same 8-3 margin to confirm themselves as the most likely to stand in the way of South Burnett and the Pennant crown.

South Burnett travel to North Lakes this weekend to tackle fourth-placed Pacific Harbour in the first semi-final, for a place in the Pennant decider.
