South Burnett touched with magic moments
THIS week the halls of Kingaroy Shoppingworld were filled with laughter as an internationally renowned magician visited South Burnett.
Based at the Sunshine Coast,'Nickleby the magician' has been showing off his skills to enthusiastic crowds at the popular shopping mall since Monday, July 8.
During his show Nickleby invited brave audience members up on to the stage and incorporated them into his magic tricks.
Sawing participants in half, floating children in thin air and making rabbits disappear were all part of his hilarious antics.
For Nickleby (Nick Britt), one of the best parts of his job is interacting with his audience.
"I perform all across the world and enjoy seeing the different reactions from the faces in the crowd.”
"I love it because no performance is ever the same.”
Nickleby said it was his first time working in Kingaroy as a magician and felt welcomed by the friendly people in the community.
It is a family affair for the popular magician who has been perfecting his craft since he was 16-years- old.
Originally from Christchurch, Nickleby spent the first few years of his career life touring around New Zealand with his father Greg Britt, who is also a well known magician and ventriloquist, Elgregeo.
Nicklbey moved to Australia 10 years ago and spent three years living and performing in the Gold Coast before relocating to the Sunshine Coast.
With a wife and three young children, he said constantly being on the road is one of the more challenging aspects of his job as he usually performs up to 300 shows a year.
However, Nickleby said it is worth the travel, even to sometimes remote areas such as Mt Isa just to see how appreciative the crowd is of his magic show.
The entertaining magician performs every Wednesday night at the Tewantin RSL on the Sunshine Coast and travels to different locations depending on his booking schedule.
Nickleby will be hosting shows tomorrow Thursday, July 11 and Friday, 12 at 11am and 1pm in the Shoppingworld at Kingaroy outside Best and Less.
