South Burnett wineries look to the skies for expansion
SOUTH Burnett wine producers are hoping to soon take advantage of air exports from Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport direct to China.
Moffatdale Ridge Winery's Jason Kinsella and Cloverly Estate Winery's Aaron Stephan witnessed history on Monday as the first Cathay Pacific test flight left the Toowoomba airport loaded with produce from Queensland and New South Wales.
Mr Kinsella said South Burnett wineries had been working together to break into the China market since the air freight project was announced.
Representatives from South Burnett Regional Council and North Burnett Regional Council also travelled to Toowoomba for the historic event.
Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport opened last year.
