Deputy Premier Jackie Trad told Queensland Parliament there would be an independent review into Friday night's devastation in the Moreton Bay region.

Five Queenslanders lost their lives in the flash flooding, as rushing waters took two cars off the road.

Ms Trad said Labor had listened to concerns from mayor Allan Sutherland and residents about problems in the area, highlighted when 300mm of rain fell in three hours on Friday.

Ms Trad said they would commission a hydrological analysis to assess whether the nearby rail link project may have contributed to flooding in Rockwell and Deception Bay.

Police Minister Jo-Ann Miller told parliament there were 4000 Triple 0 calls from the Sunshine Coast to the Gold Coast, including Brisbane.

She said that equated to 13 calls a minute between 3pm and 8pm.

Ms Miller said there were 1200 calls to Police Link, with more than 100 of these referred to the Triple 0 line as urgent assists.

She said there were 2156 calls to SES for assistance, 1441 in Brisbane region alone.

"Our volunteers have worked non-stop since Friday to ensure only a small number of these jobs remain outstanding," she said.

"This is an incredible effort."

Ms Miller said it had been incredibly tough for residents in the area and she would stand with them every step of the recovery.
