MOTOR SPORT: Kingaroy speedway has been awarded the 2019 Australian Modified Sedan national titles.

Treasurer of the club, Tanya Barron said the club was proud to be hosting the event.

"It's a very prestigious event,” she said.

"We have been working towards holding this particular event for six years.

"We are very excited about it.”

The club was unsuccessful in its bid for the event six years ago and made the decision to start its own sedan event.

"We created our signature Kings Royal Australia Day long weekend sedan event,” Barron said.

"The event has gone from strength to strength.”

Last season the club held the National Street Stock Title and is pleased as a club to hold another.

"We are getting a few more Australian titles our way,” Barron said.

"Our club is very strong and has a great camaraderie.

"We like to be family friendly and competitor friendly and it seems to be working”

This year the Kingaroy club won the 2017 Most Improved Track of the Year Award at the Annual Speedway Australia awards.

The Australian titles will be held on Thursday, April 25 2019 to Sunday, April 28 2019, which is the Anzac Day long weekend.

The club's immediate attention is on the opening race of the speedway's 2017/18 season, on October 14, 2017.

"The season opener will be huge,” Barron said.

They will also be slowly working towards preparing for the titles.

"It will be a work in progress,” Barron said.
