Take a look inside the new Nanango Police Station

NANANGO police have waited for months for their new police station, and it is nearly ready to open for business.

Sergeant Jason Newton said he looked forward to working in the "spacious and modern" Nanango Police Station when officers move in later this month.

"The facilities that we've got in there are completely different to what we've got now," Sgt Newton said.

"It's got specific designed areas that will allow us to do our duties more efficiently."

The police station has been in construction since February, but the planning has taken about two years.

Sgt Newton said the new station would comfortably support the Nanango staff.

"We've well and truly outgrown our premises," he said.

The new station also has a holding cell, and an area where community members can speak to police in private.

"It's a win-win for the community," Sgt Newton said.

The new station was set to open this week, but due to technical difficulties will open later this month.
