Stingers stop car on highway

POLICE were forced to deploy road spikes to stop a car on Bunya Hwy north of Crawford at the weekend.

Kingaroy Police Senior Sergeant Duane Frank said the road spikes, or stingers, disabled all four wheels on a car driven by an alleged 17-year-old drink driver.

The Proston youth was apprehended in the early hours of Sunday morning with an alleged blood alcohol level of 0.166%.

The youth allegedly held a learner's permit, but no licence.

Police will allege the vehicle was reported stolen in Proston.

Snr Sgt Duane Frank said the youth was arrested and charged with offences including unlawful operation of a vehicle, dangerous operation of a vehicle, evading police and drink driving and was due to appear in Kingaroy court later this month.
