Push to name part of town after Nanango couple

A NANANGO couple will have a streetscape named in their honour, recognising their contribution to the community.

South Burnett Regional Council proposed to rename an alfresco area after former Nanango councillor Barry Green, and his wife Mary.

The council will open up for public consultation whether the existing alfresco area, adjacent to the Little Drayton St laneway and in front of the Raine & Horne Real Estate, should be named the 'Barry and Mary Green Place.'

The proposal was requested by Wayne Kratzmann because of the huge contribution to the Nanango community.

Mr Green said they were appreciative of Mr Kratzmann's proposal.

"We're extremely appreciative of the gesture," he said.

Councillor Roz Frohloff said the council should leave the final decision up to public consultation.

The public may even know a better piece of Nanango streetscape to name after the couple, she said.
