Support scouts group at upcoming Paintback event
WHEN you head to the Paintback event on Saturday, June 22, you won't just be helping the environment by recycling.
The Paintback event has been organised by Crowies Paints Kingaroy, and the store's Simon Gibson said the team had invited the local scouts group to the showgrounds with them.
"We've invited the scouts to be there on the day because we already support the shop on Saturday mornings, letting them do sausage sizzles to get more funds,” he said.
"They'll be holding their own barbies and tents at the showgrounds, and we ask that once you drop the paint off, that you drive up and get a sausage or drink and support the scouts.”
Mr Gibson said the scouts would also be accepting donations of empty bottles and cans for them to recycle.
Whether you want a sausage sizzle or not, if you have leftover paint in your shed that you don't know how to deal with, you'll want to attend the Paintback event.
Mr Gibson said by working at the local paint store, he knew many people were unsure of how to safely dispose of their paint, so this was their chance to learn.
"We get a lot of questions in the store saying that they don't know how. This event stops people making any mistakes,” he said.
"Most people are aware that if you take it to the dump they'll have to pay, which is fine, but the council have still got to try and rehouse it and put it somewhere, which will cost them to get rid of it.”
Gail Gibson from Crowies Paints Kingaroy said the Paintback visit provided a rare opportunity for the region.
"This is available for people that live in cities all the time, and they have actual drop-off points ... But because we don't have enough of a population here to have it here in Kingaroy, we've organised it to come,” she said.
The Paintback event will start at 7am at the Kingaroy Showgrounds on Youngman St.
The Crowies Paints team advises you to check the Paintback website before the event, to find out what paints will be accepted.
