Surfer struts his stuff on the Brisbane River
THE BRISBANE River isn't typically associated with Queensland's surfing hotspots, but one man might have changed all that.
In a now viral post to Facebook page Euphoric Queensland, surfer Errol Parker has proven that even the notoriously flat Brisbane River can become a surfer's paradise.
Mr Parker said he had been surfing on the Brisbane River since high school and it was always been a favourite spot among his mates.
"My mates and I have been doing this for a while," he said.
"It used to be out little secret. Well until now."
Mr Parker said the Brisbane River provided the best surfing conditions on low tide and "today was a great day for surfing off the Kangaroo Point break."
"You might be able to get a decent wave every now and then," he said.
"The wash from the CityCat's definitely helps.
"You can only really do it at low tide. If the tide is too high you don't get the right break."
The 12-second video titled "When people say Brisbane hasn't got any decent surf it's like mmmm…. Try again sweetie," spread on the page with over 50,000 views in less than three hours.
Mr Parkers antics appear to have also spurred on fellow surfers with many planning a trip to the Brisbane River for their next surfing getaway.
"Looks like we are not driving far for out next wave," one user said.
"Better surf and we don't have to worry about stingers," another wrote.
"Waves are pumping here! Tell Kev to get his board out.
