Swimmers return for new season

SWIMMING: Athletes will be making a splash when they return to the Kingaroy pool for club night on Tuesday.

The night will start at 5.45pm every week and encourage swimmers to do their best in each stroke.

President of the club, Russell Schloss, said the nights are about championing individual improvement rather than swimmers competing against one another.

"It is not about who is winning it is about improving their times in an environment that is safe and healthy,” he said.

As they do each year the club is welcoming swimmers to try club night for free for the first two weeks.

To take part children should be able to swim 25 metres freestyle and where required a senior club member can be in the water with them until they are confident to swim alone.

Last season up to 45 swimmers took part each week.

The kids have started training at the Kingaroy pool with morning and afternoon sessions to start next week.
