THE man accused of defrauding Queensland Health out of $16 million will be sentenced early next year.

Joel Morehu-Barlow, the self-proclaimed "Tahitian prince", was arrested last year on allegations he siphoned millions of dollars as an employee for Queensland Health.

The money, embezzled between 2007 and 2011, was used to allegedly fund his lavish Brisbane-based lifestyle, including a luxury waterfront home at New Farm, designer clothing and a colourful social life.

Crown Prosecutor Todd Fuller asked the Brisbane District Court on Monday for the case to be listed for sentence in March.

He said there maybe some contested facts and asked Judge Kerry O'Brien to set aside half a day for the sentence.

Moehu-Barlow will be sentenced on March 20.
