Takairangi keen to help Titans make 2013 memorable

DESPITE a disappointing season-opening 12-10 loss to under-seige Cronulla, Titans signing Brad Takairangi is confident his new team won't be just making up the numbers in season 2013.

The 108kg centre played 16 games for the Roosters last year, but was forced out at the 11th hour when the Bondi club snared former North Queensland Cowboy back-rower Luke O'Donnell.

That development gave Takairangi just four weeks to move to the Gold Coast and forge relationships with his new teammates.

"I was a bit rattled at first. I didn't have my girls up here, I was living at a mate's house," he said.

"I've definitely settled in more now, I've got my two girls and missus up here."

The 23-year-old, who made 69m with the ball against the Sharks, said he had been impressed with the talent at the Titans, particularly the experience of representative stars like Nate Myles, Greg Bird and Ashley Harrison.

"It's unreal. Having Nate and Birdy here, and even Harro, we've got a lot of experienced heads," he said.

"They really do show the way with their actions and their talk."

Takairangi also said he was determined to make the left centre position his own.

We've got a real good left edge," he said.

"Hopefully me and Kevvy (Kevin Gordon), (Aidan) Sezer and Birdy can form a good partnership."

And if inexperienced halves Albert Kelly and Sezer can take their games to a new level, Takairangi said the Titans could have a shot at making the finals.

"I think we're building nicely. We don't want to get too far ahead of ourselves, but I think we're ready for a big year ahead."
