Taliqua Clancy wins silver at Commonwealth Games

UPDATE: TALIQUA Clancy and Mariafe Artacho del Solar have won silver at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, going down in a thrilling final against Canada.

Clancy and del Solar lost to Canadians Sarah Pavan and Melissa Humana-Padres in two sets, 21-19 and 22-20 on Coolangatta Beach on Thursday night.

WEDNESDAY: AUSTRALIA'S Taliqua Clancy and Mariafe Artacho del Solar will take on Canada for gold in the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.

Clancy and Artacho del Solar have progressed to the beach volleyball final following a nail-biting match against Vanuatu on Wednesday night.

Australia took the first set 21-19, before Linline Matauatu and Miller Pata came back firing in the second set to win 21-16.

But Clancy and Artacho del Solar were too good in the final set, taking victory 15-9.

The Kingaroy beach volleyballer and her partner will now take on Canada's Sarah Pavan and Melissa Humana-Padres in the final on Thursday night.

The match kicks off on Coolangatta Beach at 8.30pm.

Wednesday night's win means Australia is guaranteed either silver or gold.
