NETBALL: The grand final of the A-grade and B-grade social netball competition was played on Wednesday, October 25, at the Kingaroy netball courts.

After being delayed from the week prior due to the weather, the teams were ready to play and did not hold back on the court for the chance of victory.

In A-grade Panther Respecta defeated Pills N Potions in a final score of 33 goals to 25.

Panther Respecta captain Katie Mangan said the team that hailed from Nanango have had a fun season of netball.

"It is the first time we have all come together as a team so I think we have gotten better and better each week,” Mangan said.

"It's fun and competitive.

"We have a lot of fun while we play, which makes it good.

"It is a bit of exercise and the games are always really good, you have fun with your opponents and don't take it too seriously.”

For team photos the players make a symbol with their hands and through this and their team name, Panther Respecta, they are continuing a Nanango tradition.

"It all stemmed from the Nanango Panthers soccer team,” Mangan said.

"They are undefeated forsix years in a row and they started doing it so weare carrying the tradition.”

Meanwhile in the B-grade competition, No Offence secured victory against Chicken McThuggets 30points to 21.

Kingaroy Netball Association convenor Nerissa Maudsley said the players enjoyed the laid-back yet competitive competition and the club was happy with how the season ran.

"The season has gone really well, we have had 12 teams last season and 12 teams this season,” she said.

"It has been a good competition and we are still intending on running it next year so there is plenty of opportunity for everyone to come and join in.”
