Friends and family grieve for Caloundra teen killed in crash

FRIENDS have taken to Facebook to grieve for a recent Caloundra High School graduate who was tragically killed in a crash last night.

Hope Dell was travelling with friends along Caloundra Rd about 9.55pm when the car left the road and hit a tree near the Daniel St intersection.

The 17-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 17-year-old male driver and another 17-year-old female passenger were both taken to Nambour Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The driver remains in intensive care in a stable condition and the passenger is in a stable condition in a ward.

It's believed friends of the group were also travelling behind the car at the time of the crash.

Firefighters were called to the scene to assist the Queensland Ambulance Service.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said hydraulic cutting equipment was used to reach the driver and second female passenger. The roof was torn off to reach the pair.

The fatal crash happened only two weeks out from Christmas and is the 12th fatal crash on Sunshine Coast this year.

Of these there have been 15 total road related deaths on the Sunshine Coast this year.

The Forensic Crash Unit will now investigate the incident.

FRIENDS AND FAMILY ARE WELCOME TO LEAVE THEIR TRIBUTES FOR HOPE BELOW.
