Teenager's stolen bike got him through the hard times
Jake Liedtke is still coming to terms with the news his prized dirt bike had been stolen last night.
The blue Yamaha YZ250 2000 model dirt bike was stolen from a Railway Tce address in Kingaroy between 9pm Friday evening and early Saturday morning.
Mr Liedtke said whilst it may sound unusual, his bike, which he paid over $3000 for, has gotten him through some tough times in his life.
"Whenever I had family trouble or work stress, I could just go for a ride and clear my head," he said.
"I've had the bike for nearly five years, it has a lot of sentimental value."
To add further salt into the wound, Mr Lietdtke is awaiting surgery to his right wrist he received after a work place accident but sadly he has no work prospects once he recovers in mid-January.
"A guy dropped about 35kg straight onto my right wrist," he said.
The 19-year-old dirt bike enthusiast has been riding since he could walk.
"My uncle sat me on a little pee wee 50 when I was little," he said.
While Mr Liedtke does have a vehicle, it isn't in good shape so the sooner he can get his recently serviced dirt bike back, the better.
"I just put on new tyres, fork seals, plugs and an air filter," he said.
Mr Lietdke encourages anyone who has any information about his stolen dirt bike to contact Kingaroy Police 4160 4900.
