Thaiday expects tough pre-season for the Broncos

RUGBY LEAGUE: Forward Sam Thaiday is predicting a hard-slog pre-season for the Brisbane Broncos.

The 32-year-old forward, who will wrap up his career with Brisbane Broncos in 2018, said next year would be "fairly tough" and that players would have to be "head down, bum up".

"We lose six players this year," he said. "They are six fairly key positions in our team, so we will feel it.

"It's a very busy end of the year with the World Cup on. We will have a lot of players playing for a few different countries.

"Hopefully, by the time Christmas rolls around the boys are rested. Come January we will have to make sure we are head down, bum up into the new year."

While Thaiday was outspoken on social media earlier this week about finding out he was dropped from the Kangaroos World Cub side through news reports, he politely declined to comment on the issue.

Mal Meninga dominated headlines for admitting he personally called Thaiday to apologise for the way the situation was handled.

Meninga said it was "oversight" and that he had since "deeply apologised".
