WITH an end of season boil over looming, the Gayndah Gladiators fell one try short in a gripping league grand final on Saturday.

Both the Mundubbera Tigers and the Gladiators were pumped up for a win as they ran onto a rain-soaked Martin Love Oval in Mundubbera.

In the end the conditions favoured the Gladiators but the Mundubbera Tigers skipped away to 16-2 after 16 minutes.

The game looked like it would be a big win for the home team. But Gayndah never lost sight of the reason they were there.

At half time Mundubbera lead 16-8 but the game was far from over. The Tigers were the first team to score after the break, but the Gladiators still had three tries and three conversions in them.

It was a field goal and a converted try to secure a winning margin for the Tigers.

It was a high scoring game, 29-26, in conditions that did not favour the free-running Tigers.
