CHRISTMAS is upon us and so is the Kingaroy Christmas Carnival on December 14.

Head to Kingaroy CBD between Kingaroy, Haly, Alford and Glendon Sts, where all rides will be $2 (except the dodgems).

The fun will start at 5pm and go until 9pm.

After last year's success president Craig Lucas hoped the event would be well supported.

Santa himself will arrive at 6pm and a gold coin donation will get you a photo with Santa.

There will also be food, craft and market stalls, face painting and an animal farm as well as multi-draw raffles.

The major raffle will be drawn at 8.30pm, with all proceeds going to the Kingaroy SES.

There will also be late-night trading from local stores.

A children's Christmas decoration competition is being run out of Kingaroy Art Gallery as an opportunity for young people to showcase their skills in designing and making a Christmas decoration for display at the gallery.

Entries are in different age groups from zero to three years, four to five years, six to seven years, eight to nine years and 10 to 12 years.

Two prizes will be awarded in each age group to the two decorations selected by a panel of judges.

Prizes will be given out at the Kingaroy Christmas Carnival at O'Neil Square by councillor Danita Potter.

Entry is free and the competition is open to residents in the Kingaroy area.

The decorations may be up to 10cm in size and made of any material and decorated in any way.

Entries need to be tagged with the maker's name and phone number.
