Titans urging Hayne to become part of the team
COMEBACK forward Agnatius Paasi has revealed the Titans have challenged Jarryd Hayne to be more of a team man, with his clubmates longing for a full buy-in from the code-hopping superstar.
Paasi, part of a Titans "church connect group" which includes Hayne, admitted the squad had asked their star fullback to spend more time with the rest of the players.
"We're just trying to get Jarryd to train with the team," Paasi said. "Sometimes he likes to do his own thing but we told him, 'come train with the team' because we're one team at the end of the day"
Hayne was far from his best in the Titans' 32-18 loss to the Roosters but after almost a month out with a knee injury, he was never going to be at 100 per cent for Round 1.
Paasi is a gentle giant who has no interest in criticising anyone, let alone Hayne, a man he sees as a kindred spirit given his religious beliefs and love of football.
Instead, he simply hopes a greater involvement with the team is beneficial for Hayne and the rest of the Titans.
"Once we build our confidence in the middle, then we know we build his confidence out on the edges so he can create more space for Koni (Konrad Hurrell) and (Dan) Sarginson and both wingers to get those tries," Paasi said.
