Total domination
HOLDING a rugby league side at nil is a great feat but to do it over six consecutive games is a dominant defensive effort.
The Kingaroy Red Ants Under-12 side won last weekend's Hervey Bay Memorial Mini-Mod Carnival on the back of an absolutely stingy defence. The young side did not concede a single point over their six 20-minute games as they finished the carnival scoring 22 tries to their opponents nil.
The Red Ants kept their opposition scoreless in their first five pool games against the likes of Hervey Bay Easts, Maryborough Rovers, Hervey Bay Norths, Gympie and Hervey Bay Wests.
The Kingaroy side then met fellow South Burnett contender Nanango Stags in the carnival's final on Sunday.
The junior Red Ants kept their amazing defensive record intact after shutting out the Stags to claim the Memorial trophy.
Team manager Mick Dugdell praised his side's carnival winning performance at Hervey Bay.
"It was the best I've ever seen the boys play and their attitude was there all day," he said.
