Traffic minister awaits report before addressing our roads

QUEENSLAND'S Transport Minister is awaiting reports from the authorities before making any changes to South Burnett roads.

Transport and Main Roads Minister, Mark Bailey said recent deaths on Burnett roads has left a wake of grief and loss.

"Police and the Department of Transport and Main Roads are now investigating these incidents," he said.

"If there are any contributing road factors I'll be asking the department to address these as soon as possible."

Mr Bailey said the government was delivering close to $2billion into critical road safety infrastructure road upgrades over four years.

But will we see any improvements to the Haly St crossing in Kingaroy?

"We recently made several safety improvements at the Haly St zebra crossing near the Glendon St intersection," Mr Bailey said.

"Including a raised concrete island, tactile ground surface indicators to assist the vision impaired and re-marked painted line marking.

"We also installed additional lighting to illuminate the zebra crossing at night and alert motorists of potential pedestrian movements."
