Truck fire closes highway near Kumbia
A FAMILY was uninjured after their truck caught fire while travelling on the Bunya Hwy yesterday.
Acting Area Commander Bruce Groer said the truck was travelling on the highway near Porter's Gap, near Kumbia, when a fire broke out in its engines.
"The driver and his family all escaped but the fire spread to the grass," Mr Groer said.
Three urban and three rural fire crews came to contain the fire at about midday.
The fire spread to about an acre of the grass but was quickly contained.
Mr Groer said no one was injured.
A section of the Bunya Hwy was closed for about half-an-hour while crews brought the fire under control.
