THE odds of 12 babies being born in one hospital on 12-12-12 are astronomical.
But remarkably the maternity ward at Nambour General Hospital welcomed six boys and six girls into the world on this rare day.
And the numerical magic does not end there, for one of the 12 babies born on Wednesday. Little Jack Janssen's father Corey always thought he was pretty special.
Born on 7-7-77 made him an enigma of sorts.
Every time people pointed out the quirkiness of his birth date, Corey would smile and acknowledge his uniqueness.
Now his baby Jack has stolen his glory.
"I always had the coolest birthday, but the little guy's well and truly got me," he said.
"I always felt pretty special but, I guess, now that's gone."
University of the Sunshine Coast's Dr Peter Innes said the probability of having a parent and child with special birth dates was rare.
"Having a child born in 2012 with a 12-12-12 birth date, given an equal chance of a special adult birth date, is about six in 10 million, and if we assume adults is paired in relationship this rises to 1.2 in a million chance."
Dena Schmidt said she was astounded to be one of 12 mothers to have given birth on the iconic date.
"I couldn't believe it," she said. "We're all pretty chuffed."
