Two dead in single-vehicle crash north of Mount Coolon

TWO people have died in a fatal traffic crash about 10km north of Mount Coolon.

Initial police investigations suggest sometime before 11pm last night a car travelling on the Bowen Developmental Rd, known locally as Mount Coolon Rd, lost control.

Police arrived at the site about 1am today, a police spokesman said.

Three people had been travelling in the vehicle.

The driver and a passenger, both women, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Another passenger, a man, was flown to Townsville Hospital in a serious condition.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigation.
