Two severely injured after being hit by garbage truck

POLICE are investigating a serious traffic incident at Burleigh where a 49-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman were hit by a garbage truck this morning.

Around 8.30am the couple were crossing the Gold Coast Highway, when the truck which was turning from Goodwin Terrace into the Gold Coast Highway, struck the pair.

They both received multiple injuries and have been transported to hospital where they are in a serious condition.

The Gold Coast Highway southbound remains closed at Goodwin Terrace while Forensic Crash officers conduct investigations at the scene.
