1900 drivers caught speeding on Christmas Eve

THE Road toll for the Christmas break so far stands at one after the death of an unborn baby at Booval overnight. 

A 21-year-old motorcyclist is in a critical condition after his bike left the road in Mount Isa and a 35-year-old woman who had been trapped in a car has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police caught a motorcyclist riding 240km/h in a 100km/h zone near Maryborough. He was given a fine of $1,138 and eight demerit points.

1900 motorists were caught speeding across the state on Christmas Eve. 

Police conducted almost 6000 Random Breath Tests with 62 coming resulting in a charge for drink driving. 

A 40-year-old Coombabah man and a 58-year-old man caught in Waverley were both detected with readings more than 4 times the legal limit. 

Officers also conducted 117 Roadside Drug Tests with 20 drivers returning positive results.
