Urgent recall of high-tech household gadget due to fire risk

AN URGENT safety recall has been issued over an everyday, high-tech gadget which could reduce your home to ashes.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has issued an urgent product recall for a product sold nationally online from October 19, 2017 to January 3 this year.

The Outdoor Bluetooth Speaker sold by Groupon Australia Pty Ltd has been recalled due to issues with the charging.

The speakers, in white and black with an 'f' on the front have been recalled due to a failure of the over-charging prevention circuit in the speaker which may occur when charged with an incompatible USB charger and/or battery quality.

The recall notice advices that if the defect occurs the speaks pose a fire hazard which may cause injury or property damage.

Customers have been advised to stop using the speakers immediately and dispose of the products.

To arrange a refund head to Groupon.com.au and sign in to contact the customer support team.

Customers affected should include the code 'SPKR1' in all correspondence to receive a full refund including shipping fees from Groupon.
