Vandals cause more than $30,000 in damage

VANDALS caused about $30,000 worth of damage to the trees and seating in the Nanango CBD.

Trees have been ring-barked and poisoned and nearby stone work was damaged.

Nanango Sergeant Brett Smith said police were investigating.

"It is unfortunate that persons decide to commit these offences knowing that it will only incur further cost to the rate payers of this little piece of paradise,” Sgt Smith said.

"It is estimated that the damage and cost of repairs and replacement will well and truly exceed $30,000.”

Police are reviewing CCTV footage from neighbouring businesses and the detectives from Kingaroy Criminal Investigation Branch is also assisting in this investigation.

If you have information relating to this offence phone Nanango Police on 41716333, email Nanango.station@police.qld.gov.au or call Crime Stoppers on 1800333000
