Vegan protesters descend on Swickers

A GROUP of vegan activists has taken a stand outside the southern hemisphere's largest pig abattoir.

Members of the group Brisbane Animal Save are "holding vigil" outside the gates of Swickers in Kingaroy.

They say they are there to bear witness to animal suffering and what they perceive as cruel industry practices.

This is not the first time the group has protested at Swickers.

They were there in March this year and twice towards the end of 2017.
