A BRITISH veteran who lost his leg after being "blown up" by fighters in Iraq has taken to Facebook to blast those who he says are "expecting racism" from him.

Chris Herbert has delivered a powerful rebuke to anyone who attempts to tar Muslim people with the same brush as extremists or terrorists.

Mr Herbert was injured in a roadside bomb explosion in 2007, according to the British Telegraph.

He writes that while "one douchebag" decided it was his day to die, many other Muslim men and women have helped him.

He adds that plenty of "white Brits" have been cruel, rude or insensitive to him.

Blaming all Muslims for the actions of groups like Daeshe and the Taliban, is like blaming all Christians for the actions of the KKK or Westboro Baptist Church," he wrote.

"Get a grip of your lives, hug your family and get back to work."

His post has been shared more than 113,000 times.

In a follow up, he said he was motivated to post his views "because an Islamophobic group tried to recruit me as a poster boy, so I went a bit mad".

He also apologised for swearing in the post after his dad read it.
