Victoria passes law protecting women from abusive protesters

VICTORIA'S upper house has passed a law banning protesters within 150m of abortion clinics.

The legislation, passed 31 votes to eight, makes it illegal to film people without consent or block access to footpaths, roads and vehicles within the zone around clinics, hospitals and other operations offering abortions.

The bill was introduced by Sex Party MP Fiona Patten before being backed by the Labor Government.
