Ruby's retro caravan cafe a hit with nostalgic customers

SHE'S unique, vintage, and can make you smile with just one cup of coffee.

Ruby Caravan has caused quite a bit of hype on the coast, with the new business taking off for Rachael Willson.

Ruby Caravan, named after Rachael's great-grandmother, has a home at Ross Creek in Yeppoon and is serving up coffee to customers bright and early each day.

After selling a homeware store in Yeppoon last year, Rachael, 45, was looking for a new business venture that hadn't been done before in the area.

She was spot on when she decided to get a small caravan built, and style it like an old-fashioned cafe that's complete with checkered tiles, pink benches and a retro-looking fridge.

"She's quite beautiful to look at inside and out; I like to do things a bit different," Rachael said.

The Bulletin asked readers on Facebook yesterday what their secret tips were to making the best homemade coffee:

While the business has only been running for four weeks, Rachael has had a great response from the community.

"Because she's so unique, my business has been word of mouth," Rachael said.

And the business owner couldn't be happier making coffee for customers on their way to work each morning.

"I'm enjoying it because I've always been a bit social and I was lost when I sold my business," Rachael said.

"My first day with Ruby (and) I thought, I'm back; I make coffee and really enjoy my day."
