Wanted: Stars in the making

A NEW event will be part of this year's Murgon Christmas Fair and Crow FM is calling for rising young stars.

For the first time ever, entries are being taken for a Christmas talent show.

Murgon's Got Christmas Talent will see students from kindy to Year 12 in Murgon and surrounding areas taking to the stage to impress the crowd with their singing.

Crow FM presenter Shaz Birkett said students could participate as a choir or perform solo.

"They can sing a traditional or contemporary Christmas song," she said.

"And the first prize is a Crow FM live broadcast at the school the student comes from.

"I think that would be pretty cool for a sports day because sports days are usually pretty fun."

The winning school would have the community radio team come to school, set up broadcast equipment, speakers and one of the announcers would go live to air from the playground.

"We'll be spinning some tunes and having some fun," Ms Birkett said.

"We might have some activities and get the kids involved. We make a big deal of it because the kids always get a buzz.

"There have been a couple of broadcasts we have done where the kids will come and be interested in Corky standing there with his headphones and microphone and they can hear that when they get in the car with mum and dad."
