WARNING: Severe thunderstorms predicted for Burnett
RESIDENTS are urged to remain alert as meteorologists issue a severe thunderstorm warning for the Burnett and Wide Bay region.
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued the warning for damaging winds and large hailstones across the warning area over the next several hours.
Locations which may be affected include Kingaroy, Cherbourg, the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Maroochydore, Gympie, Caboolture, Coolangatta, Ipswich, Jimboomba, Mount Tamborine and Redcliffe.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should move your cars under cover or away from trees and to secure loose outdoor items.
Residents are urged to seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm and beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
