WATCH: Storm lights up skies over Toowoomba

A SEVERE storm cell last night meant the city got got even more of a lights show after the fireworks of New Year's Eve.

The weather event swept across the city, with the Bureau of Meteorology issuing a severe weather warning for the Toowoomba, Southern Downs and Lockyer Valley regions about 9pm last night. 

The spectacular show was documented by numerous users across social media who took to the platform to share their experiences of the evening storm.

Residents from Harristown to the city's south-east were caught glimpses of the event.

The Bureau of Meteorology forecast for Toowoomba today predicts the city will be hit by more storms this morning with severe light winds and an 80 per cent chance of rain.
