Water main replacements to keep on top of repairs

SOUTH Burnett Regional Council have been busy fixing water mains across the region.

Councillor Roz Frohloff said six water main replacement projects were currently under way.

"We've got a lot of ageing infrastructure," she said.

"We don't know when pipes are going to burst."

The council have had to keep on top of repairs whilst replacing the aging water mains.

Over the past financial year the council have repaired 11 water mains in Kingaroy, seven in Nanango, one in Murgon, five in Wondai, four in Proston and one in Wooroolin.

The council expect to have the Mount Wooroolin water main in Kingaroy and the Hart St and Elizabeth St water mains in Blackbutt completed this month.

The council crew commenced the Reen St water main in Kingaroy in December last year, which is expected to be completed during April.

The water main on Blackbutt's Allery St is expected to be completed by May and the water main on Kumbia Rd in Kumbia is expected to be replaced by next month.

Further water main replacements are planned for Kingaroy along King St and Alford St to be completed by April, along Youngman St South and Youngman St North to be completed by May.

Another water main will be replaced next month along William St in Kingaroy and is expected to be completed by June.
