Wenger unsure on future but still loves the Gunners

FOOTBALL: Arsene Wenger is being coy on his Arsenal future but said he still had affection for the club, despite more disgruntled fans calling for his head after a 2-2 draw with Manchester City.

The Gunners had to fight back twice as Theo Walcott and Shkodran Mustafi equalised goals from Leroy Sane and Sergio Aguero at Etihad Stadium.

The draw, which followed a run of four defeats from five games, leaves Arsenal seven points below fourth-place City, albeit with a game in hand, meaning there is work to do if Wenger is to steer the club into the Champions League for the 19th season running.

"I am professional and I have shown great loyalty in the past. I love this club," Wenger said after the game.

Wenger, who is reported to have been offered a new two-year contract, is yet to make an announcement about his future, but once again said he would make his intentions known "soon".

"I don't know how long I will be here," he said.

"I am clear in my head, that's the most important thing. The decision will be soon."

The result prevented City from recapturing third place from Liverpool and left the Sky Blues 11 points below leaders Chelsea.

At the bottom, Swansea City missed a chance to move clear of the relegation zone after a drab 0-0 draw with fellow struggler Middlesbrough at the Liberty Stadium.

A win would have pushed the Swans three points clear of Hull City in the last relegation spot and eight points ahead of Boro in second from bottom.

They now are a point ahead of Hull.

Middlesbrough takes on Hull on Thursday with Swansea at home to title-challenging Spurs.
