Wests battle front runners in showdown

SOUTH Burnett's soccer sides should be ready to go on Saturday after a week off due to the Queen's Birthday long weekend.

Round 8 of the Evolution Solar Football League is set to feature a classic contest when reigning premiers Wests host competition front runners Nanango in a super soccer showdown at Tom Alford Oval.

Nanango has remained undefeated this season, coming off a dominant 9-0 victory against Gunners.

The hosts scored their second win two weeks ago with a 2-1 victory against Barambah to stay near the top two.

Wests' women will look to continue their ladder-leading start to the season when they host second place Nanango in their top of the table fixture.

Wests last outing was a 2-1 victory against Barambah while Nanango also takes winning form into Saturday's match after a 2-1 win over Gunnettes.

In second division, competition leaders Nanango will look to continue their great start when they take on a Wests side chasing a top-two position.

Other fixtures will pit Barambah and Gunners at Murgon Showgrounds.

The hosts will aim for their first win of the season against a Gunners squad looking to bounce back after a heavy loss to Nanango.

The women's fixture features Barambah hosting Gunnettes in a critical clash with both sides looking to force their way into a top two position.

Both sides need a victory to bounce back from 2-1 losses after Barambah lost to Wests and Gunnettes were toppled by Nanango.

Barambah's second placed second division side hosts a Gunners outfit looking for their second win of the season
