Why this $1m Maroochy unit is twice as good as the rest

FANCY a room with a view? Or another room with a view? Or another? Or even another?

A one-of-a-kind "double unit" for sale on the Maroochy riverfront at $1.08 million not only offers four bedrooms, but all with water views.

The 170sq m 10th floor unit at Trafalgar Towers was fashioned from two units which were amalgamated into one under previous owners a few years ago.

Marketing agent Michael Cornilsen, of G1 Property, said the unit was unique in the area, with expansive views from a balcony running almost the full width of the building.

The removal of a dividing wall created a "butterfly layout" with effectively a double living area fanned by bedrooms at either end.

Each bedroom has its own bathroom, meaning four bathrooms in total, while the second kitchen in one unit was converted to a bar. The kitchen features a $10,000 Falcon Professional oven.

The unit includes access to a multi-berth pontoon and the building's other facilities, including a renovated game room and infinity pool on the river's edge.

Although the unit is actually two units combined, Mr Cornilsen said a previous owner had put the units on to one title, meaning the owner paid only one rates bill and one body corporate fee.

The unit was bought by two professionals in partnership a couple of years ago but Mr Cornilsen said they had decided to go their separate ways.

The unit went on the market in January, with the vendors originally considering taking it to auction before settling on a price which Mr Cornilsen described as "fair".

He said it was already under offer.

Mr Cornilsen said interest in apartments was picking up, particularly from owner-occupiers.

"The owner-occupier interest is very strong on the Sunshine Coast at the moment, and at last, apartments have been taking off," he said.

"We've been down a long time since the GFC days but with the infrastructure that's happening - the airport, the hospital, the town centre - the inquiry rate is very strong."

Mr Cornilsen said he had sold two units sight unseen for offers above the asking price.
